
The Forest Fires constitute one of the main problems
, relative to the degradation of the Medio.ambiente, which our
Country faces every summer. The extensions with which these phenomena
take place (mainly in the areas of the Mediterranean forest) can be of
the order of thousands of Has. This does that the use of the
satellites of series NOAA, with a resolution of 1km by pixel in nadir,
is appropriate for their detection and
evaluation of affected areas.
By means of the suitable combination of diverse bands the
state of the vegetation can be determined and process different models
for the determination from the Risk of Danger, thus delimiting
zones of Risk.
A very useful representation consists of dividing all the
territory in cells of 10x10 km and associating an index of
risk to the cell. During the season of the summer,
the Laboratory of Teledetección of the University of Valladolid
, daily processes
and in real time
this information, to which access is had from Internet, by
order of the Defense area against Forest Fires of the Main directorate
of Conservation of the Nature of the M.a.p.a. |

In agreement with the exposed thing, the Forest Fire risk
calculates in cells of 10x10 km, corresponding to the areas where
the ICONA locates the monitoring groups. For the
calculation the evolution of the NDVI considers during previous times
compared with the captured daily image of Satellite NOAA-16.
